AI in the workplace

🤖: I’m here to make you better!

🔥The interest in AI has exploded in the past few months, especially since ChatGPT was released to the public.

🚩Questions have been raised about its readiness, and the potential for unethical and discriminatory practices when not designed or tuned appropriately.

💡Some of the applications of AI in the workplace:

  • 👩🏽‍🔬Talent intelligence: indexing skill sets and profiles will provide both companies and candidates a better understanding of the capabilities and opportunities available in the market.

  • 🙋🏻‍♀️Talent management: people insights will enable tailored and proactive talent mobility strategies that will boost development, productivity and retention

  • 🎓Learning and development: assessing capability gaps and offering  just in time custom learning recommendations will re-skill individuals; matching organizational needs and personal interests faster

  • ☎️Candidate and employee experience : surfacing relevant information and validating it with speed will create more efficient service models. This will make room for more more nuanced high touch human interventions throughout the employee lifecycle

  • ✍️Content delivery: speeding up the development and delivery of content will enhance employee touch points and boost overall sentiment. Segmented content will be leveraged for branding and internal comms, improving change management activities at scale

  • 💰Rewards: identifying  the most effective compensation and benefits packages, and systematically delivering them to employees in the moments that matter the most will optimize organizational investments in people

‼️ There’s also some challenges to overcome:

  • 🙈Bias built into the algorithm. When the design and learning mechanism is flawed, this can aggravate discriminatory practices.

  • 🌌Data ingestion and validation processes are complex. Knowledge is typically not centralized in a single source and format. Integrations are often required between systems to get all data in a central repository for appropriate modeling.

  • 🤷🏻‍♂️People’s capabilities to use the tool effectively are scarce. It’s about architecting the systems and having the required expertise to solve the right problems and uncover relevant opportunities.

✨I’m excited about the potential it brings to elevate our work and push our jobs to the next level of creative problem solving.

🧪Have you tried ChatGPT or any other AI powered Technology? What was your experience?
